Description of ALPS Mountaineering Vertex 4 Tent 4-Person 3-Season:
ALPS Mountaineering designed the Vertex 4 Tent with an easy-to-assemble, one pole design for quick set-up when you and your crew arrive at the campsite. Yup, this four-person, three-season tent only has a single pole – looks can be deceiving. Simply put the pole together and then attach the tent with the quick clips. No more "does it go through this sleeve or that one?” A 52-inch interior height and 64sq ft of floor space give four campers plenty of room. The Vertex also has dual doors for easy entry and dual vestibules to provide dry storage for extra gear when the clouds open up.
Bottom Line: The ALPS Mountaineering Vertex 4—advanced degree in engineering not required.
This tent was very easy to assembly-even at night with only a headlamp! Lasted through 2 nights and 2 days of solid rain and 39 degree temps. Keep all three of us warm with plenty of room for our bags. 2 doors were nice to have. The shelter that extends over the front door was a nice addition to have in order to keep the muddy wet stuff outside but still protected from the rain. Relatively light for trekking in. packs up quickly and easily.
CAMP ON...
Tent is well made. Set up is quick and easy. Space inside is too tight for 4 people as 4 sleeping bags will overlap when laid out. Haven't had it rain on me yet so can't comment on weather resistance.
The good:
Cool pocket at top, easy to set up, small, light. Price! (I got it at the outlet)
The bad:
So-so quality in both construction and poles. Also, the rain fly barely covers the tent, so unless the rain is coming straight down the tent's going to get wet. Picture is deceiving.
The Fit:
Me, my wife, and two toddlers were fine in it, but 4 adults would be too tight.
